Distance Education Chair


John started his career in Kansas City, Kansas as a Business Education teacher and low-person on the extra duty assignment list. While pursuing a doctoral degree John moved into administration in Kansas City as an alternative school principal. Having been raised in a military family who's father never got assigned to Alaska, and always wanted to live in Alaska, John and his wife, Jane moved to Grayling, Alaska in 1989.

Along John's career he has been Superintendent in Iditarod Areas School District and Fairbanks Borough School District, University of Alaska Educational Leadership Professor, Apple Inc. Professional Development, and currently works half-time as Director of the Distance Education Consortium and half-time Statewide Academic Affairs coordinating UA Distance Education.
