From February 23-26, 2013, more than 500 teachers/faculty, education technologists, IT personnel and administrators will gather in Anchorage, Alaska to learn new skills, discover emerging technologies, and connect with each other at the Alaska Society for Technology in Education (ASTE) annual conference event. You can gain the skills that will help you become more successful. Here are a few of the ways that you will benefit from attendance at ASTE:
Break new ground
There's no doubt that our students' future success will depend on their ability to become digital citizens and understand the technology that their generation is dependent on for work and personal life. This is where you'll see how teachers in other schools are already teaching these skills successfully and where you'll figure out how to adapt to your own schools' approach to our curriculum demands.
Become more productive
ASTE will help you work smarter and faster, starting the very next day. You'll learn how to take my current lessons and convert them to highly interactive and engaging presentations using technology available on line. You'll attend hands-on training sessions and learn from real-world case studies of success.
Upgrade our organization's skills
The Conference is packed with sessions that directly relate to content. Plus, you can sit down and pick the sessions that are most applicable to your schools needs.
Learn from the experts
All ASTE sessions are taught by the best of the best - the kind of people you don't just run into every day. At the same time, they can share their years of experience regarding what works and what doesn't.
Bring home best practices
ASTE attendees come from districts all over the state, and vendors from all over the world are there to demonstrate the latest in classroom technology. Enterprise attendees include employees from Google, Discovery Learning, Smart Technologies , Promethean, SchoolWires, Apple just to name a few. That means you'll be able to exchange ideas and build one-on-one relationships with people who have dealt with the same challenges your organization is facing and learn how they tackled those challenges. And when you leave, they'll be a part of our district's extended network.
Bring new visionary energy to our work
You'll be exposed to new ways of thinking about our projects and some of the coolest, boundary-pushing, experimental work out there. In previous years past attendees said they left ASTE inspired to innovate. So you'll go home ready to push your own organization's boundaries.
Know that it's worth the investment
The majority of those who attended ASTE in 2012 said the event exceeded their expectations at providing opportunities for learning tips, tricks, and the latest educational trends in technology.
